At ANM FURNITURE, we are committed to providing high-quality furniture built for performance, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. To maintain the integrity, safety, and appearance of your products, please follow the care guidelines outlined below.

GENERAL CARE

  • Routine Cleaning: Regularly dust furniture with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, lightly dampen a cloth with water and mild, pH-neutral soap, then dry the surface thoroughly. Avoid oversaturation or soaking any materials.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive pads, ammonia, bleach, acetone, alcohol, or silicone-based polishes. These substances may damage surface coatings or degrade materials.
  • Positioning: Keep furniture indoors unless specifically designed and labelled for outdoor use. Avoid placing items in direct sunlight, near radiators, heaters, fireplaces, or air conditioning vents, as extreme temperature or humidity fluctuations can cause warping, cracking, or fading.
  • Level Surfaces: Ensure furniture sits on a level surface to avoid wobbling or stress on joints. Uneven flooring can affect stability and cause premature wear.
  • Protective Measures: Use coasters, placemats, and felt pads under heavy or sharp items to prevent indentations, scuffs, or heat damage.

MATERIAL-SPECIFIC CARE

TIMBER (Solid, Veneer, or Engineered Wood)

  • Surface Maintenance: Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth along the grain. Avoid water pooling on surfaces. Refrain from using oil-based polishes unless recommended for your specific finish.
  • Oiled Finishes: If your item has an oiled finish, re-oiling may be required periodically depending on usage and environmental conditions. Contact us for appropriate product suggestions.
  • Humidity Sensitivity: Timber expands and contracts with environmental changes. Maintain indoor humidity between 40%–70% where possible.

METAL (Stainless Steel, Powder-Coated, Chromed)

  • Cleaning: Clean with warm water and a non-abrasive cloth. For stainless steel, a dedicated stainless cleaner or polish can be used sparingly.
  • Powder-Coated Surfaces: Avoid scratching or denting coated finishes. Clean gently with soapy water. Refrain from using harsh detergents or solvents that can degrade the finish.
  • Chromed Steel: Intended for indoor use only. Avoid deep scratches as they may expose steel and promote rust. Clean gently with appropriate non-acidic solutions.

UPHOLSTERY (Fabric, Vinyl & Leather)

  • Fabric: Vacuum regularly using a brush attachment. Clean spills immediately using a clean, damp cloth. Avoid excessive rubbing.
  • Vinyl: Clean using mild soap and water. Avoid chlorine-based or harsh chemical cleaners.
  • Leather: Dust with a dry cloth. Condition periodically with approved leather care products. Do not place in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

OUTDOOR FURNITURE

  • Use & Storage: Outdoor-rated furniture should be stored indoors when not in use to prevent premature wear. Wipe clean regularly to remove dirt and prevent buildup.
  • Timber Outdoors: For oiled outdoor wood, re-oil as needed and store under cover when not in use. Fine-sanded or untreated timber should be periodically sanded and protected.
  • Metal Outdoors: Regularly inspect for scratches or rust, especially on powder-coated steel. Promptly treat any compromised areas with touch-up paint or rust inhibitors.

GENERAL USE GUIDELINES

  • Correct Use: Use furniture only as intended (e.g., do not stand on chairs or sit on tabletops or armrests). Do not hang objects on backs of chairs.
  • Weight Distribution: Avoid sitting on one edge or overloading surfaces. Heavy items should be placed evenly across tops.
  • Moving Furniture: When relocating furniture, lift rather than drag to avoid damage to legs, joints, and flooring. Remove shelves or contents where possible.
  • Assembly & Adjustments: Ensure correct assembly using provided instructions. Periodically check and tighten joints or fasteners.

NOTES ON NATURAL MATERIALS

Natural materials such as wood, leather, and some textiles will develop character over time. Minor surface changes including:

  • Colour shifts from light exposure
  • Creases or compression in foam and fabrics
  • Patina or stretching in leather
…are expected and not considered faults. Each piece is unique.
